What makes a check valve “high pressure”

High-pressure service is about more than the pressure class on the datasheet. Thermal cycling, water hammer, erosive flow and creep at elevated temperature all load the body-to-cover joint and the seat. That is why Jayant matches the joint design to the class: male-female gasketed joints up to Class 600, ring-type joints from Class 900, and pressure seal covers where bolted joints become impractical.

Engineering points we address

  • Alloy steel bodies (WC6, WC9, C5, C12 and forged F11, F22, F5, F9) for high-temperature steam
  • Stellite 6 or equivalent hard facing on seating surfaces in pressure seal valves
  • Disc damping options — counterweight and dashpot — to control closure
  • Hydrostatic shell and seat testing to API 598
  • IBR certification for Indian boiler regulations

Jayant's in-house foundry, Ramdev Casting, gives the company control of the castings that high-pressure valves depend on — from melt to final inspection.

FAQ

High pressure check valve FAQs

Which check valve designs suit high-pressure service?

For large bores, pressure seal swing check valves; for small bores, forged steel lift check valves to API 602 (Class 800/1500) or ASME B16.34 (Class 2500). Bolted-cover cast swing checks in Class 900 and above use a ring-type joint.

What end connections are used at high pressure?

Butt-weld ends to ASME B16.25 and RTJ flanged ends are the usual choices, with socket weld ends for small forged valves.

Can high-pressure check valves be NACE compliant?

Yes — NACE MR0175 / MR0103 compliance is available across Jayant's cast and forged ranges.
